Gerard Alserda was born in 1949 in a small village in the north of the Netherlands. At the age of ten, he learned to play the guitar and started singing. A few years later, he got a second hand Hofner electric guitar from his parents, amplified through an old Philips radio. This, then, inspired him to find fellow music lovers and form a band. From the age of 15 to 27, he was the singer and rhythm guitarist in different bands. Although music was his passion, he chose to change career in search for knowledge. At the end of the 80’s and early 90’s, he started two businesses which both became very successful. At the beginning of 2020, he sold his companies and decided to go back to his love of making music. Throughout the last 40 years, he wrote several songs which could now finally be recorded! So, he has made his dream come true and released his debut album at the age of 71! It’s a soft rock album called “Who I Am” which covers melodies of a lifetime and contains surprising lyrics, and can be heard on several streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer etc.
My goal in life is to help people lead a better and happier life by sharing the knowledge and experience I gained throughout my 70+ years.
I never feel happier than when have truly helped another person. I hope that the songs on my album “Who I Am” will contribute, to some extent, to that goal. Above all, I hope you enjoy the music and that it will give you some uplifting moments. So Enjoy!
